Coachwork apprentice, master hauler, go-to-guy
When Doug first came to us, he demonstrated the most important qualities an employee can have - determination and willingness to learn. As an apprentice in our coachwork shop, he is getting a well-rounded education in metal fabrication, bodywork and painting from some of the best in the business. That's not to say that he didn't arrive with his own skill, having tackled a personal restoration project on his own.
Another valuable skill Doug brings is his gift for hauling the Black Horse Garage trailer. Watching him back it into a tight spot or around a bend is to see a real pro handling a trailer with finesse and talent.
Tell us about your car that you've restored?
"The week I was born in 1972, my parents bought a brand new Mustang convertible. Eventually they gave it to me, and I spent more than a year doing a frame-off restoration."
Any favorite cars here?
"My favorite is always the current one I'm working on. It's easy to fall in love with them when you know you're restoring new life into it."
What's the best thing about being at Black Horse?
"There's nothing like being happy every day when you come into work. It truly shows in the finished product and our customers see that."
